Allison Liem is the Engineering Lead at rideOS. She is leading a hands-on workshop, Match-making Passengers and Vehicles in Ride-sharing at WITS MidAtlantic.

  • Why is speaking at WITS important to you?

Conferences like WITS are great for women in tech to connect, share our experiences, and learn from one another. I’m honored to be speaking at WITS to share some of my work with other women.

  • What inspires you?

Being an agent of change: working on tech that will improve lives and the world, mentoring others in their journeys, and helping to improve processes and culture.

  • Most useful article you’ve read in the last month

I read an article about sharing salary information with your colleagues, and how transparency helps close the gender wage gap: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/09/style/women-salary-transparency.html

  • When you were a kid what was your dream job?

When I was little, I liked space (and still do), and I wanted to be an astronaut.

  • Tell us something about your session.

Want to learn how ride-share companies allocate vehicles to riders, and want to write your own “match-making” algorithm?

  • Anything else you would like to share?

I think it’s very important to have balance in our lives, and prioritize health (mental and physical).

Register here to see Allison and all the other amazing speakers at WITS MidAtlantic in Washington, D.C. on April 14 and 15, 2020.
