· Why is speaking at WITS important to you?

Technology is quickly changing the way we live, learn and work. Women are not only essential in building technology that the world needs but they can be game-changers in tech by bringing a different perspective and ideas to the table. We need to come together: This is the time to share our experiences, our ideas, and our knowledge, to inspire and empower each other and push the boundaries of what’s possible. I am looking forward to this amazing opportunity to meet other women leaders, passionate young engineers, thought leaders and visionaries of tomorrow.

I deeply believe that we need women leaders to use their positions of influence and positively leverage their intellectual capital to help mentor and promote other women from different backgrounds. Women need access to positive mentors and sponsors who support and challenge them so that they are able to make steps toward true success in technology and advance their careers. Events like WITS are not only helping inspire and nurture the next generation of women leaders and engineers, they are also helping foster a culture of diversity in tech and changing the future of technology.

· What inspires you?

People leveraging or creating technology that make a real difference in people’s lives, and in turn making our world a better place.

· Quote about your session

In this hands-on MATLAB workshop on Deep Learning and IoT, participants will use their browser to run deep learning code in MATLAB Online, a cool framework built on top of cloud instances, and aggregate inference data to ThingSpeak, an open IoT (Internet of Things) platform, and then analyze that data. We ask everyone to bring a laptop with a webcam, or share.
