Amber Burgess is a Technical Project Manager at Linode. Her session at WITS Northeast is “Agile Sucks and It Might Be Our Fault”.

  • Why is speaking at WITS important to you?

WITS was the first conference I attended after joining the tech industry and I immediately felt welcome and like I could listen and learn without feeling like I had something to prove. It is important to me to give back to an event like that in anyway I can, and how better than to share my own knowledge?

  • What inspires you?

My colleagues who work in jobs like Project Management, Scrum Master, and other roles that take on an often unspoken emotional burden, but keep pushing forward to build better teams and better products.

  • Most useful article you’ve read in the last month

https://hbr.org/2012/05/six-myths-of-product-development (it’s from 2012 but it’s still relevant…probably always will be)

  • When you were a kid what was your dream job?

History Teacher or Cartographer

  • Tell us something about your session

Let’s peel back the veneer on Agile teams and take a look at whether we’re doing Agile or being agile and the problems we’re causing if we’re doing it wrong.
