Morgan Berman is the CEO of Milkcrate. Her session at WITS Southeast is “Real Challenges: Gamificaton, Jiu Jitsu, and Social Enterprise”.

Why is speaking at WITS important to you?

“You can only be what you can see” rings very true for me — technology and design were things I never imagined for myself so it is important for me to be an example for others that it is possible to be a woman, to raise capital, to run a tech company and be an innovator.

What inspires you?

The pursuit of creating something meaningful and scalable. Specifically, helping organizations filled with passionate people striving to make the world a better place and needing tools to help them achieve that vision.

Most useful article you’ve read in the last month

Hm. I just finished Malcolm Gladwell’s Blink but that is a book… the articles all run together in my mind.

When you were a kid what was your dream job?

I wanted to be a marine biologist — a.k.a. professional mermaid.

Quote about your session

Rolling with black belts teaches you how to breath in the scary moments — how my journey learning to fight in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu taught me how fight in the male dominated world of technology and startups.
