60 Seconds with WITS West Speaker — Amy Holt
Amy Holt is an Assistant Instructor at the Turing School of Software & Design. Her workshop at WITS West is “Letters from an Front End Developer to the Back End (this is how I want my JSON!)”.
Why is speaking at WITS important to you?
- As a lifelong learner, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a learning community — nonetheless a community of powerful women who I will also learn so much from at the summit!
What inspires you?
- I’m a former k12 educator and my students, particularly the Girls Who Code club, at Denver School of Science and Technology are the reason I decided to take the leap and go back to school to learn about software. While I don’t get to see them on a daily basis anymore, their energy and passion continue to inspire and push me to be my best every day.
Most useful article you’ve read in the last month
• As I’ve been working on our Swift/iOS curriculum for the Kode With Klossy (KWK) camp this past month, I’ve been trying to get my hands on any resource I can. I came across `How to get started with augmented reality in Swift, the easy way` by Ranadhir Dey and had so much fun building my first AR app following the tutorial included — and can’t wait to share it with my students at KWK!
When you were a kid what was your dream job?
- When first asked this question, I couldn’t remember. So, I asked my mom. Based on my multiple ‘businesses’ as a kid, she recommended I say “entrepreneur”.
Quote about your session:
•“Come practice being an empathetic Back End Developer when it comes to formatting JSON API responses.”
