Meet the Speaker — Ronit Bohrer Hillel
Ronit Bohrer Hillel is the Vice President of Software Engineering at SmartSheet. Her session at the WITS Fall 2021 Virtual Summit is “The Cloud Architecture and Inclusive Organizations Tango”.
- Why is speaking at WITS important to you?
Promoting women in Engineering is important to me and WITS is a great platform to be inspired and get other talented women to be inspired.
- What or who inspires you?
I am inspired by people that have a “Can-Do” attitude. Ones that never say no to challenges and drive change not just for themselves but for others as well.
- Most useful article you’ve read in the last month
I am reading Bill Gates’ new book “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster”, where he puts in front of humanity a challenge of zero emission to prevent the Climate disaster we are heading to. He is joining the call for all of us to be active about saving the world we live in. What I found most inspiring is what started his voyage to write that book. It was about equality, it was about giving power to poor countries and help millions of people to have a better life. That quest brought him to take a bigger challenge of how to do so while preventing a bigger Climate Disaster.
- When you were a kid what was your dream job?
As a kid my dream job was to be an Architect, combining beauty and engineering to create marvels we can live in.
- Tell us something about your session
In our session we will take all to a voyage in time that will help them understand the transformation to the cloud. We will not just help our audience to learn the steps and challenges along the way of moving from on-prem data centers to the public cloud, we will also share how all of that creates opportunity for a diverse workforce.
- What other sessions or speakers are you most excited to see?
There are many great sessions and speakers at the WIT Fall Summit. I am always excited to learn things that are impactful and are new to me. One talk that I look forward to hearing is “Tech to Empower Innovation: A Case in the Food Industry” by Chloe Anderson. I am looking forward to learning how AI can help with food innovations. We are at a time that finding ways to create nutritious food efficiently has become critical in order to feed the world population.
