Meet the Speaker — Sarah Johnson
Sarah Johnson is a 4th-year undergraduate student studying Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology and 1st-semester graduate student studying Data Science at New York Institute of Technology. She is a panelist in the WITS Spring 2022 Virtual Summit session “Life after TechGirlz — A Look at Where TechGirlz Go Next”.
- Why is speaking at WITS important to you?
To be connected to other women in tech and engineering. Learning about other women in the same field and how they have utilized their experiences in their growth in the field. To meet and speak with other inspiring women in tech.
- What or who inspires you?
I love the idea of being able to create the future. TechGirlz, Tracey Welson-Rossman, Dr. Jamie Bracey Green, Women in AI, Built by Girls, CompTIA Advancing Women In Technology, Bessemer Venture Partners Investors.
- Most useful article you’ve read in the last month.
I read daily articles via TechCrunch and BuiltinNYC. I also read a lot of research papers and have been reading several articles on various optimization topics. These help me better understand my industry and what I am learning in lectures as a student
- When you were a kid what was your dream job?
I feel like I have always had a general love for being hands-on and knew that I wanted to do something in the nature/renewable energy space as I love outdoors.
- Tell us something about your session.
I’m really excited about my session with Amy Cliett and the other panelists: Jalynn Johnson and Katia Barricklow. Excited to speak with them about their experiences and journey with TechGirlz and Technology. How they have grown in their fields and where they inspire us to see ourselves in couple of years.
