Meet the Speaker — Sweety Bertilla
Why is speaking at WITS important to you?
WITS gives an amazing platform to share my experiences and knowledge. It also presents an excellent opportunity to network with women in leadership positions and learn from them.
What or who inspires you?
There are so many people around the world inspire me in different aspects, but here I am going to mention 2 of them: Princess Diana, and my old boss Audrey Troutt.
Princess Diana impressed me as an outstanding leader who was
able to step outside the traditional role of a royal family member
and leverage her popularity to benefit charities. Her compassion
towards the sick, dying and less fortunate left a lasting legacy as a
compassionate royal princess and raised the bar for royal families.
I expressed my interest in public speaking to my boss in our first
meeting with the caveat that I am not ready yet. She “threw me to
the wolves” so to speak by making me sign up to present at next
available opportunity. She coached me on how to make a great
speech — delivering the message effectively to the audience. Her
unbiased constructive criticism helped me grow as a public
speaker. She was always available to help true to her motto “you
grow by helping others grow”, which I want to follow in my life
too.

Favorite thing you have learned or did during quarantine?
Quarantine gave me an opportunity to find creative ways to engage
with my kids and spouse.
When you were a kid what was your dream job?
I was always curious to know what the Doctor hears through their stethoscope and also working with computers as we never had one in my home when I was kid and only in school, were we get just one hour a week to try out our programs. Looks like I landed with one of my Dream jobs :-)
